Vaxxed QLD Tour 2017 - Overview

The AVN will be conducting a Vaxxed movie and Q&A tour of Queensland from 21 Oct to 6 Nov 2017.

Following is a chronological account of this tour.

21 Sep 2017
The AVN accounced it would be doing a Vaxxed movie/Q&A tour and recording vaccine injury stories in Queensland.

I am asking humbly if you would share this post with everyone you know in QLD. The AVN is planning a VaxXed tour from Mid-October to early November covering many areas of QLD that have been urgently asking us to come there with the film and to record vaccine injury stories. We have a very small window of opportunity to do this and we want to make it the best tour possible. Below are the tentative dates - these are subject to change.

What we need is help on the ground - ambassadors in each of these areas who are willing to help us find venues, get 3-4 volunteers in each location to help at the door and with book sales and also to schedule vaccine injury stories for while we are there.

The Q & A will be hosted by Tasha David and Meryl Dorey (at most locations - possibly not all) and we will try very hard to get at least one and possibly more USA VaxXed team members such as Dr Andrew Wakefield, Dr Brian Hooker and Polly Tommey to also appear via skype.

We can't do this without you - and you have been asking us to make sure we get there so - let's work together!

PM this page with your phone number, email address and the area you live in and we will be in touch shortly.

Ipswich 21st October
Toowoomba 22nd October
Roma 23rd October
Emerald 25th October
Rockhampton 26th October
Mackay 27th October
Bowen 28th October
Townsville 30th October
Cairns 31st October
Mossman 2nd November
Bundaberg 5th November
Maryborough 6th November

As you can see - that is a VERY full-on schedule! But bringing this message to Queensland is so important!

25 Sep 2017
The AVN announced a meeting in Cairns to organise the screening.

Attention Cairns Folk: There will be a meeting tomorrow, 26/9 at 10 AM of people who want to help with the VaxXed screening next month. It will be held in Yorkey's Knob. If you are interested in finding out more, please message this page. Do NOT reply below.

The NewsMail published the article Anti-vaccine movement to target Bundaberg

Anti-vaccine movement to target Bundaberg
26th Sep 2017 7:20 PM

THE Australian Vaccination Skeptics Network is planning to target Bundaberg.

"The AVN is planning a VaxXed tour from Mid-October to early November covering many areas of Queensland that have been urgently asking us to come there with the film and to record vaccine injury stories," the group says on its Facebook page.

"We have a very small window of opportunity to do this and we want to make it the best tour possible."

The group said they were looking for volunteers to help at the door and people who could share "vaccination injury stories".

The tour will include a screening of he movie VaxXed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe.

The movie screening will feature a Q and A session with Tasha David and Meryl Dorey.

The group also talks about wanting to bring in US anti-vaxxers to speak.

Queensland Health Minister Cameron Dick has called on the public to boycott the film, as he has with other such screenings in the past.

"Films like these are counter-productive and undermine the many strategies we have in place to promote vaccination to protect children, families, patients, staff and the wider community against vaccine preventable disease," he told the Gold Coast Bulletin earlier this year.

The group is planning on running the Bundaberg session on November 5, with numerous other sessions across Queensland in October and November.

In July, immunisation rates for the Wide Bay region sat at 90% for all immunisation age groups.

Primary Health Network board chair Peter Dobson said that the release of the annual Healthy Communities: Immunisation rates for children in 2015-16 by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare was great news for children across the country.

"Across our whole region there are 27,422 children who are registered and are fully immunised for their age group and only 2,526 who are not up to date with all the immunisations they need to be fully protected," Dr Dobson said.

"The overall rate of fully immunised five year olds has gone from 90.8 in 2012-13 to 91.6 in 2015-16.

"Additionally 92.9% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are fully immunised at age 5 years old."

Dr Dobson said the Bundaberg community in particular had made great effort to protect everyone by improving immunisation rates over the past year.

"While these rates are short of the national target of 95%, which provides herd immunity to the whole community, it demonstrates the work that is happening to ensure every child is protected," he said.

NewsMail trashed its excellent article above by publishing Vaccine skeptic explains why she's coming to Bundy that contained vaccine misinformation and gave Meryl Dorey the opportunity to flog the event.

Stop the censorship! Let's have an open discussion about vaccine risks and ineffectiveness. Thank you to the NewsMail for being evenhanded in your reporting on this issue!

The Courier Mail published the article
Anti-vaxxers take film to regional towns with strong immunisation records . Excerpts follow:

Australian Medical Association president Michael Gannon said he was even "more concerned" now the AVN appeared to be pursuing towns with good vaccination track records.

"These people are spreading misery, hurt and harm and nothing else," he said.

"They don't have a message that is even remotely worthwhile, interesting or worth debating."

Health Minister Cameron Dick called for Queenslanders to boycott screenings and said venues should refuse to show the film.

"The anti-vaxxer agenda is dangerous and ill-informed," he said.

Queensland's chief health officer Jeannette Young said claims vaccinations caused sudden infant death syndrome or autism were "entirely baseless, irresponsible and dangerous".

3 Oct 2017
AVN announced tickets now available for purchase.

Tickets are NOW on sale for the AVN's VaxXed QLD screenings. Early bird pricing will be ending soon so don't delay!

We are a strong, vital and growing community. Let's come together and share our knowledge, our caring and our power!

Meryl Dorey published a live video AVN Facebook 3 Oct 2017 10:56am .
Dorey plugged the QLD vax tour and invited (challenged) the AMA president Dr Michael Gannon, QLD Health Minister Cameron Dick, and QLD Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young to attend any screening and be part of the Q&A panel.

Dorey made this generous invitation irresistable by saying anyone associated with vaccination should be charged with murder and assault.

5 Oct 2017
AVN announced it's setup an affiliate program with Eventbrite (the ticket seller for the tour) and promoted Polly Tommey as a featured guest who will be appearing via Skype.

AVN published a formal invite for the QLD Health Minister, Chief Medical Officer and AMA heads to be part of the Vaxxed Q&A panel.

Strangely enough, Dorey forgot to mention she thinks they all should be charged with murder.

AVN Invites QLD Health Minister, Chief Med. Officer and AMA Heads to sit on VaxXed A & A Panel. Will they respond?

Today, the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network sent an invitation to the following individuals:

The Hon Cameron Dick, QLD Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services
Dr Jeanette Young, Chief Health Officer for QLD
Dr Michael Gannon, AMA President
Dr Bill Boyd, AMA President, QLD

The letter said:

I am writing to you on behalf of the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network to extend an invitation to attend any of the up-coming screenings of the documentary film, VaxXed on its tour of Queensland free of charge.

As you may or may not know, VaxXed tells the story of Dr William Thompson, a top scientist at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States who, in August 2014, was recorded admitting that the De Stefano study, published 10 years earlier, had been fraudulent. In fact, he said that data of a material nature showing that vaccination with the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) was positively associated with a high risk of the development of autism in children who were vaccinated before the age of 3 - especially children of African-American dissent [sic]. This information was intentionally omitted from the final publication.

Since the Australian vaccination schedule actually includes more MMR vaccines prior to the age of 3 than the US schedule, many parents and health professionals are concerned about the possible effects this may have on children born here and vaccinated according to schedule.

As leaders in the medical community and in State Government, we feel that attendees to these events would be very interested in having your input and in being able to ask you questions regarding the issue of vaccination. We would like you to sit on our Q & A Panel and assure you that you will be given equal time with the other experts who will be in attendance to answer questions from the audience.

Below is a list of locations where VaxXed will be screening. We would love to have you attend so please just let our office know which one of these events would be most convenient for you and we will reserve 2 seats for yourself and whoever you would like to bring.

After all, the AVN, an Australian consumer health lobby and information organisation since 1994, always has an [sic] always will support the fundamental and inalienable right for all voices to be heard on this incredibly important subject. We welcome your information and would never call for anyone to boycott, censor or suppress what you have to say.

In a We Are Vaxxed Facebook live video (7 Oct 2017), Tommey confirms that two Australian women will be joining her on the Vaxxed bus shortly for vaccine injury story training for 5 days.
The AVN hasn't mentioned these people being on the tour but given the major expense sending people to the USA for training, I'd assume they will be on the tour recording the vaccine injury stories.

9 Oct 2017
Thanks to Tommey and her motor mouth, the Australian contingent had basically already been identified but confirmation came via We Are Vaxxed Facebook live video 9 Oct 2017 .
The Australian team, who will be recording vaccine injury stories on behalf of the AVN, is Taylor Winterstein and her twin sister, Stevie. Also part of the team and in the USA for training is Deveraux David, daughter of AVN president, Tasha David. Refer Australian Vaxxed Team Announced for more information.

Taylor & Stevie run a health/wellness business called Tay's Way .

Taylor's husband, Frankie Winterstein, is a professional NRL player for Manly. He isn't averse to assisting his wife's causes.

AVN enews, sent 12 Oct 2017, announcing that two people banned from entering Australia, Polly Tommey and Kent Heckenlively, will be appearing during the Q&A sessions, as will Andrew Wakefield, all via Skype.

We are also very happy to announce that Dr Andrew Wakefield and Polly Tommey, both producers of the VaxXed documentary, have agreed to attend several of the Q & A sessions by Skype. As you may recall, the Australian government BANNED Polly Tommey under terrorism legislation because they supposedly felt she was a risk to maintaining the peace in Australia.

Another banned health activist (he just had to APPLY for a visa to get banned), Kent Heckenlively, will also be attending some of these screenings via Skype. Dates and venues for all overseas special guests will be confirmed shortly but at this point, we believe that Polly and Dr Wakefield will be at Toowoomba, Roma, Emerald, Rockhampton and Mackay and Kent Heckenlively will be at Ipswich, Townsville and Cairns - we will be looking at the other 2 venues shortly and hope to be announcing special guests on our Q & panels ASAP.

15 Oct 2017
AVN enews, sent 15 Oct 2017 , confirms Meryl Dorey will be in attendance at every event, with Tasha David joining the tour in Cairns. Reminder of the overseas guests (via Skype) and announcement that all the Q&A sessions will be live-streamed to both the AVN and Fans of the AVN Facebook pages.

Tasha and Meryl would love to meet you at one of the venues or along the route for a meet and greet (time allowing - please contact us at this email address). Meryl will be at every venue, Tasha is joining the tour in Cairns.

Also, Dr Andrew Wakefield, Polly Tommey and Kent Heckenlively have agreed to answer your questions at some of the VaxXed QLD events so don't delay in getting your tickets to these ground-breaking events!

Follow our Live Videos

Just as we did on the last VaxXed tour, the AVN will be creating live videos of parent's stories. Q & A sessions and more on the AVN's Facebook Page as well as on the Fans of the AVN page on Facebook.

If you don't want to miss any of these amazing videos (and really, who would want to miss this?), make sure you have notifications turned on for both pages.

At the top of each page, you will see the option that says you are following the page. Click the drop-down arrow and make sure that Notifications are turned on.

If possible, when watching our Live Streams, share them with other groups and individuals too so the information will get as wide an airing as possible. Thanks!

The Capricorn Coast Mirror published the following article which reads like a paid advertisement. It refers people to the AVN yet fails to mention the current public health warning issued against the AVN by the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission.
The Capricorn Coast Mirror also fails to inform its readers that the QLD Health Minister, Cameron Dick, has asked people to boycott these screenings and requested businesses not to host them.

Anti-vaccination movie heads to CQ

The Australian Vaccination-skeptics network, Australia's oldest and largest consumer health and vaccination lobby and support group is bringing the documentary Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe to Rockhampton.

Vaxxed tells the story of leading scientist Dr William Thompson and delves into the correlation of a child in Australia being diagnosed with autism among other side affects related to vaccination.

They query that while the government pushes harder to punish parents who choose not to vaccinate or to vaccinate selectively, what are they are doing to study the science behind vaccine risks and ineffectiveness with ever increasing outbreaks of diseases like measles and whooping cough in the fully-vaccinated.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and tell their own stories relating to vaccinations.

Vaxxed will be in Rockhampton on October 26.

The AVN PR machine is in full swing today. Toowoomba's The Chronicle also published a promotional piece for the upcoming Vaxxed screening :

Anti-vaxx group to host documentary in Toowoomba

by Tara Miko

A CONTROVERSIAL anti-vaccination group will host a documentary film and questionnaire at a secret location in Toowoomba this weekend.

The Australian Vaccination-Skeptics Network will screen Vaxxed: from Cover-up to Catastrophe in the Garden City from 7.30pm Sunday.

The AVN said the "families with vaccine injured children" will share their stories at the screening which will be followed by a Q&A with the documentary producers via Skype.

Its promoters maintain Vaxxed is not anti-vaccination, but rather an expose urging government transparency and call for the US Congress to investigate the CDC and subpoena its scientist, Dr William Thompson.

The film tells the story of how biologist Dr Brian Hooker was contacted Dr Thompson, who led the CDC's study on the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and its link to autism,.

"The scientist, Dr William Thompson, confessed that the CDC had omitted crucial data in their final report that revealed a causal relationship between the MMR vaccine and autism," the documentary promoters said.

"Over several months Dr Hooker records the phone calls made to him by Dr Thompson who provides the confidential data destroyed by his colleagues at the CDC.

"Vaxxed: from Cover-Up to Catastrophe is a documentary film that compiles this information together and interviews a range of medical doctors, university professors, and autism specialists."

The event website says it is not an anti-vaccination film but rather makes four calls to arms, the first of which is to subpoena Dr Thompson and to investigate the CDC.

It also urges the US Congress to repeal the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act and "hold manufacturers liable for injury caused by their vaccines", make the measles, mumps and rubella be immediately available as single vaccines, and "that all vaccines be classified as pharmaceutical drugs and tested accordingly".

The AVN said the omitted data showed a "strong and undeniable" link between the MMR vaccine and autism, and Australia's use of the vaccine was double that of the United States in children under the age of three which, according to a study, put them at the "highest risk of developing autism".

"There are genuine concerns that autism will soon affect half of all children if we do nothing about this out-of-control epidemic," the AVN said.

Vaxxed will screen at a secret location revealed only to ticket holders on Sunday, October 22.

"Due to the well-orchestrated threats of violence and abuse that come from the pro-censorship community, the exact venue will not be announced until the day of the screening," the event website read.

Tickets are $12 - $18, and the screening runs from 7.30pm followed by a Q&A.

Tickets are available online here.

…and be sure to remind them that the AVN has a current public health warning issued by the NSW HCCC, and that the QLD Health Minister, Cameron Dick, called for people to boycott the screenings and for businesses not to host them.

Readers hit out at anti-vaxx group's film screening

UPDATE: Readers have hit out at an anti-vaccination group's move to bring a controversial film to Toowoomba at a secret location this weekend.

The story, published online on Wednesday morning, said the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network was promoting the controversial film by producers Polly Tommey and Kent Heckenlively who would follow the screening with a Q&A session via Skype.

Ms Tommey is believed to be subject to a three-year ban from Australia while Mr Heckenlively, the self-proclaimed "world's number one anti-vaxxer" faces a similar ban.

Widespread coverage of the controversial film's screenings report ticketholders were given the location two hours before it was due to air, with other reports venues were tricked into airing it.

The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission in 2014 issued a warning relating to the AVN after an investigation found the group "does not provide reliable information in relation to certain vaccines and vaccination more generally".

"The Commission considers that AVN's dissemination of misleading, misrepresented and incorrect information about vaccination engenders fear and alarm and is likely to detrimentally affect the clinical management or care of its readers," the Commission said.

"Given the issues identified with the information disseminated by the AVN, the Commission urges general caution is exercised when using AVN's website or Facebook page to research vaccination and to consult with other reliable sources, including speaking to a medical practitioner, to make an informed decision."

The AVN sent out an enews promoting the screenings, proudly boasting of its Skype guests that have banned from entering Australia.

AVN - exposing the public to health risks since 1994
"Now, we have some very exciting news to share. It's taken a while to iron out all of the details and we are still not sure of the later events, but below are the special guests who have confirmed their availability for the first few events. Either Tasha David (AVN President) or Meryl Dorey (AVN founder) will be at each and every event to help answer questions - but below are the confirmed overseas visitors who will be attending via Skype (because 2 of them have been banned by the Minister for Immigration). Let's show the government that they can keep these people out of Australia physically, but they cannot stop them from coming here to share their knowledge with us!"

The AVN also published this enews on its Fans of the AVN Facebook page.

The Australian Medical Association Queensland published the following Media Release

20 October 2017

DOCTORS DAMN ANTI-VACCINATION FILM SCREENINGS

Doctors are warning an anti-vaccination documentary to be screened across regional Queensland could ultimately cost children's lives.

The film Vaxxed, which makes false and disproved links between vaccination and autism, is set to be shown in 11 Queensland towns and cities between October 21 and November 5.

AMA Queensland chair Dr Shaun Rudd said he feared some parents could be duped into believing the film's anti-vaccination message and leave their children vulnerable to potentially deadly diseases such as measles and bacterial meningitis.

"This film's director is a former doctor who was struck off by the UK's General Medical Council for serious professional misconduct during his research into vaccination," Dr Rudd said.

"His claims have been completely and repeatedly refuted by independent research and rejected by doctors around the world.

"But sadly many parents believe the lies peddled by the anti-vaccination movement.

"If they are taken in and refuse to vaccinate their children they are putting them at risk of contracting potentially deadly diseases - and heightening the risk to other children and adults in their community."

The first childhood vaccinations were introduced in Australia in 1932. Since then diseases such as tetanus, diphtheria, Haemophilus influenza type b, poliomyelitis, congenital rubella and newly acquired hepatitis B have been all but wiped out.

However, low vaccination rates in some areas continue to lead to outbreaks of preventable diseases such as measles, mumps and whooping cough.

"The evidence is in and it is overwhelming," Dr Rudd said.

"Vaccination saves lives and the claims made by anti-vaccination campaigners are totally baseless.

"When it comes to immunisation, Queenslanders should listen to their doctor - not dodgy documentaries."

The Ipswich screening and Q&A was held last night, with special guest Kent Heckenlively making a clown of himself. Like all previous Vaxxed Q&A's, it was full of dangerous misinformation about vaccination.

On a more positive note, Toowoomba's The Chronicle published article Screening of anti-vaccination film 'could cost kids' lives' (22 Oct 2017), to warn its readers about the upcoming event:

Last night's event in Toowoomba with Jon & Polly Tommey didn't disappoint, with Polly describing Gardasil as "murder in a needle" and Jon going all illuminati-NWO-depopulation conspiracy crazy.

The AVN announced that tonight's event in Roma will feature another special guest , Dr Stephanie Seneff (via Skype).

Meryl Dorey published a response to the Fraser Coast Chronicle article on the AVN website.

The Rockhampton AVN Vaxxed event (26 Oct) featured special guests Polly Tommey and Andrew Wakefield (via Skype). Both guests were in fine form spreading fear-mongering vaccine misinformation.

The Townsville Bulletin published article Anti-vax cover-up in Townsville .

A SECRET local screening of a controversial anti-vaccination film next week has medical professionals and members of the community fired up.

The Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network is planning to screen Vaxxed: from Cover-Up to Catastrophe, which includes interviews with doctors, university professors, and autism specialists.

The film investigates the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention's alleged omission of data in a study on the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine's connection to autism.

Online ads say the venue of the screening will be withheld until Monday due to "well orchestrated threats of violence and abuse that come from the pro-censorship community". The Bulletin understands the screening will be at 7.30pm on Monday at Birch Carroll and Coyle Townsville Central on Flinders St West.

Australian Medical Association Queensland chair Shaun Rudd said the film's director was a former doctor who was struck off for serious professional misconduct.

"We firmly believe they're spreading mistruths," he said.

"There's no medical evidence whatsoever that what they're saying is true."

Townsville MP Scott Stewart was unaware of the screening but described the film as scaremongering.

"All this is doing is creating unnecessary fear among the Townsville community," he said.

The AVN, which did not return calls for comment, claims the documentary is not anti-vaccination and encourages viewers to take their own stance based on the information in the film.

This article attracted a host of ugly, defamatory comments by AVN officials and supporters on the Townsville Bulletin Facebook page. Here is Wayne Baird, AVN Public Officer, talking about California senator, Dr Richard Pan:

AVN Public Officer doing the movement proud.
Wayne Baird (AVN Public Officer):
"I know I have plenty of Asian friends Jerimiah. All of them provax but that Pan is evil. I will bet my life on that one. He bought in that SB277 legislation. The guy needs the electric chair. I think the word prick is very nice for him. Not one I use myself. You certainly couldn't argue that he's as Asian as Ho Chi Min."

Meryl Dorey announces via Fans of the AVN Facebook live to expect articles about the Vaxxed tour in Bundaberg and Maryborough newspapers next week. AVN will be taking Vaxxed to Darwin, other places in the Northern Territory, western Queensland and Tasmania next year, and hope to take it to Broome WA. Dorey also advised the Kuranda event (1 Nov) has not been heavily promoted because of the small venue but it will feature an aboriginal dance troupe and food stalls. Tasha David, AVN President, will be joining the AVN Vaxxed tour from the Cairns event onwards. Dorey also made a call-out for people with vaccine injury stories who live anywhere between Kuranda and Bundaberg and Maryborough to contact the AVN for a meetup or to record their stories as the AVN tour heads down their way.
Dorey also proudly announced that a local group has now started up in Mackay, thanks to the Vaxxed event.

Also announced that Dr James Lyons-Weiler will be the special guest for the Bundaberg event (5 Nov), and Kent Heckenlively will be appearing at Maryborough (6 Nov).
I assume all these special guests will be appearing via Skype.

Just before the Townsville screening got underway, Meryl Dorey made a special announcement via AVN Facebook live advising that the APN newspaper group would no longer be accepting advertising from the AVN and Dorey let rip on some anti-vaccination supporters, calling them cowards.
