CNTF: Anti-vaccination & Homeoprophylaxis
BackgroundCancer patients with suppressed immune systems rely solely on herd immunity for protection against vaccine-preventable diseases. If such a disease is contracted, they face a much greater risk of suffering complications from the disease.
Homeoprophylaxis is the practice of using a homeopathic remedy to prevent infectious disease. Many Australian homeopaths, naturopaths and other non-medical health practitioners promote and administer homeoprophylaxis as a safe and effective alternative to vaccination.
The homeopathic remedies used in homeoprophylaxis contain nothing but water so are therefore completely ineffective in preventing any vaccine-preventable disease.
On 20 May 2015 the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) released its position statement on homeopathy. It states (excerpt):
In light of strong evidence to confirm that homeopathy has no effect beyond that of placebo as a treatment for various clinical conditions, the position of RACGP is:RACGP also outline harms associated with homeopathy. In the section titled "Delaying or avoiding conventional medical care" they warn:
- Medical practitioners should not practice homeopathy, refer patients to homeopathic practitioners or recommend homeopathic products to their patients.
- Pharmacists should not sell, recommend, or support the use of homeopathic products.
- Homeopathic alternatives should not be used in place of conventional immunisation.
- Private health insurers should not supply rebates for or otherwise support homeopathic services or products.
"When homeopathic vaccines are used as an alternative to conventional immunisation, both the individual and the community are left exposed to preventable diseases."

Whilst the homeopathic preparation used in homeoprophylaxis is harmless - it is only water, after all - a grave risk is potentially posed to people who believe that they are protected from infectious disease when, in fact, they have no protection at all. Such a situation becomes even more serious for people with suppressed immune systems, as is the case for some cancer patients.

CNTF published this anti-vaccination post to its official Facebook page. This post claims that vaccines cause autism and that the increase in autism is due to the increase in the number of vaccines given in childhood. The overwhelming scientific consensus is that vaccines do not cause autism.
And do afford yourself a smile seeing a registered health charity sharing health misinformation from David Icke:

Just A Coincidence - Nothing To Worry About
The March 2014 CNTF newsletter published the article "Cervical Cancer Vaccine - Friend or Foe?" This article leads readers to question both the safety and efficacy of the HPV vaccine, stating that there have been 15,037 adverse side effects from the vaccine and that 139 deaths are attributable to HPV related vaccinations.
From about March 2010 the CNTF website page Links has included links to two major Australian anti-vaccination activists; Viera Scheibner and Bronwyn Hancock's "Vaccination Information Service".
An article titled "Female HPV Gardasil Vaccine now approved for Boys in Australia" by Alan Ostrowsky
was published in CNTF's September
This article describes information from Cancer Council Australia as "propaganda" and contains false and misleading information about HPV and vaccination.
CNTF's "Directory of Holistic/Natural Practitioners" has included a listing for Isaac Golden's "Aurum Healing Centre" with the byline Specializing in the treatment of vaccine damaged children from September 2010 to the present day.
