A Guide to Stephanie MessengerThe debacle that is Stephanie Messenger's Terror Australis Tour raised many questions as to how Messenger is operating her numerous health-related projects.
Over the years Messenger has been involved in projects that were managed by multiple people. It appears now that Messenger is solely responsible for them - using the names interchangeably, different bank accounts and with no other persons (except her husband) appearing to be involved.
The names Messenger uses include:
- GanKinMan Foundation
- Nature Matters
- Nature Matters | VAIS Vaccination Awareness & Information Service
- Vaccination Awareness
- Vaccination Awareness & Information Service
- Healthy Naturally
- Healthy Lifestyles Naturally
- Get Rid of SIDS Project
- Church of Conscious Living
- Don't Bully Billy
[Ed note: this page was fully revised in February 2015 and now presents the names in chronological order.]
I highly recommend you head on over to Reasonablehank's blog to read his take on it all The Church of Conscious Living - another Stephanie Messenger Anti-vaccine Enterprise.
Stephanie MessengerStephanie Messenger is just a trading name used by Stephanie F Bailey.
The website http://stephaniemessenger.com/ is used by Messenger to sell her books (also refer 'Nature Matters').

2009 HLN/VAIS [group]
Excerpt from HLN/VAIS membership form (2009)
'Healthy Lifestyles Naturally' (HLN) and 'Vaccination Awareness and Information Service' (VAIS) was formed in 1993. It operated as a single entity under the banner 'HLN/VAIS' but the groups were still often referred to separately. HLN was advertised as a non-profit, volunteer organisation. An annual fee of $25 was for membership to both groups, HLN/VAIS.
ASIC records show that Healthy Lifestyles Naturally Association Inc. and Vaccination Awareness and Information Service Group Inc. were once registered associations in Queensland but were both deregistered on 8 March 2000.
HLN/VAIS had a dedicated website and the wayback machine shows this website was active between 2002 and 2009. This incarnation of (non-incorporated) HLN/VAIS did not have any registered business names.
Healthy Lifestyles Naturally held regular support group meetings at:
- Gold Coast
- Logan West
- Ferny Hills
- Stafford Heights
The advertised contacts for HLN/VAIS during this period were Stephanie Messenger, Susan Lindberg and Roxanne Iwinski.
Between 2003 and 2009 the postal address for Healthy Lifestyles Naturally was a PO Box in Wynnum Plaza QLD. The primary contact phone numbers belonged to Messenger and Lindberg but by 2006 it was Messenger only.
In 2009 other contacts listed were: general information, membership and library services - Stephanie Messenger (postal address in Alexandra Hills QLD); general enquiries and payments - Susan Lindberg (postal address in Wynnum Plaza QLD) and the newsletter contact was Roxanne Iwinski.

2009 Church of Conscious LivingThe Church of Conscious Living was first formed in 2008 by Adriano Regano and Jane Leonforte (former vice-president of VISA).
The business name "Church of Conscious Living" was registered by Leslie Bailey (Messenger's husband) on 29 December 2009.
2010 Vaccination Awareness and Information Service [group]Note: also known as "Vaccination Answers Informed Sources" during this period.
In September 2009 the VAIS group split off from HLN, launching its own dedicated website and a new membership form. It remained a non-incorporated group.
The business name "VAIS" was registered on 2 Nov 2009 by Susan Lindberg and VAIS got an ABN on 18 Nov 2009. Its new domain name, vaccinationawareness.com.au, was registered by 'VAIS' in 2009. The contact name for the domain registration was Roxanne Iwinski.
Excerpt from VAIS membership form (2010)
The website made no mention of meetings for VAIS (group).
The main contact address was the same Wynnum Plaza QLD address used previously by HLN/VAIS. The website only showed a contact email address email@example.com No contact names were provided.
These contacts details on the website remained unchanged (Jan 2015).
However, a membership form dated Jan 2010 listed contact phone numbers for Stephanie Messenger and Susan Lindberg.
Same details as per HLN/VAIS (group) and are still current (Jan 2015).
2010 Get Rid of SIDS Project IncThe HLN/VAIS group had included Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) as one of its interests for many years; in particular, they claimed that a baby's rise in temperature after receiving vaccinations could contribute to the release of toxic gases that are the true cause of SIDS.
Excerpt from an advertisement published in the Thirroul Public School newsletter, 9 Sep 2010.
In Jan 2010, Stephanie Messenger founded a registered charity called the Get Rid of SIDS Project Inc. This charity promotes the disproved Toxic Gas theory as being the cause of SIDS and believes that the sleeping position is irrelevant in the prevention of SIDS.
The website advertised plastic sheeting for sale by Messenger's husband, Leslie Bailey.
Messenger started holding seminars on behalf of the Get Rid of SIDS Project
and her own project, Healthy Lifestyles...Naturally. These talks covered SIDS and anti-vaccination
topics and were often entitled "Vaccination Options ... What You are NOT being told about SIDS".
In advertising for these talks, Messenger claims a 100% success rate in preventing SIDS.

2010 Healthy Lifestyles...Naturally [non-group]The business name "Healthy Lifestyles...Naturally was first registered on 29 Dec 2009 and is held by Leslie Bailey (Messenger's husband). From this point onwards, there is no evidence that anyone other than Stephanie Messenger is responsible for the operation or finances of this entity.
The first mention of this incarnation of HLN appeared in the Toowoomba Chronicle (6 Nov 2009) in an event listing for a HLN support group meeting. This listing described HLN as a "non-profit, volunteer organisation".
Messenger held a number of seminars on the topics of anti-vaccination and SIDS on behalf of Healthy Lifestyles...Naturally and her charity, Get Rid of SIDS Project.
Support group meetings were being held on behalf Healthy Lifestyles Naturally (HLN) and "Vaccination Awareness".
2010 Nature MattersIn May 2010 Stephanie Messenger launched a one-page website www.naturematters.info

The title of the website was "My Vaccination Story". HLN and VAIS were not mentioned by name but the page did state "or click here to email me to ask questions, access our library or get a free information pack mailed to you."
The website remained "My Vaccination Story" until the end of 2011.

Stephanie takes "Nature Matters" and her books on a promotional tour in the United States.
Her fifth book, Goodbye Grandma, is added to the Nature Matters website.
2014 Vaccination Awareness and Information Service [group]This original VAIS group doesn't appear very active but updates were made to its website in 2014.
2014 GanKinMan FoundationThe GanKinMan Foundation made its first appearance on 2 December 2014 as the name of the bank account for goods purchased from Messenger's "Vaccination Awareness & Information Service and Healthy Lifestyles Naturally".
It's next major appearance was later that month as the advertised organiser of Messenger's Terror Australis Tour.
"GanKinMan Foundation" is a (non-registered) trading name used by Stephanie Messenger. Whilst it's official website http://www.gankinman.com did not provide any contact names and the domain name was registered using an anonymising service, the contact phone number published on the site was eventually traced to Eclectic Services (QLD) Pty Ltd, the business owned by Messenger's husband, Leslie Bailey.

2015 Healthy Lifestyles NaturallyTwo new children's books Happy Day Sad Day written by Stephanie Messenger (published by Healthy Lifestyles Naturally) were released on 18 March 2015. One version is for girls, the other for boys, and are available at Messenger's personal website stephaniemessenger.com.
Messenger announced the new books in an email sent 18 March with the following plea: "If everyone just purchased one of my books, imaging [sic] how quickly I can be out of debt for the cancelled Dr Sherri Tenpenny tour".
2015 Get Rid of SIDS ProjectOn 8 April 2015 the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission announced that they had "made a decision to revoke the registration of Get Rid of SIDS Project Inc (ABN 63 260 843 015) following a review into the organisation's operations and activities" (refer ACNC media release).
This means that the Get Rid of SIDS Project has lost its charity status (effective 1 April 2015) and has lost all tax concessions. Donations to the group are no longer tax deductible.
This action by the ACNC attracted widespread media attention with Stephanie Messenger featuring as the poster child for rogue charities (refer Channel 7 News video clip).
For further commentary I highly recommend Reasonablehank's blog Stephanie Messenger's anti-vaccine SIDS charity status revoked.
2015 Vaccination and Awareness Information Service [group]The group VAIS was one of only two named entities responsible for organising the No Jab No Pay protest rallies. VAIS was in attendance at the Brisbane protest, handing out information plus membership forms which had struck out all references to Stephanie Messenger, leaving only Susan Lindberg's details on the form.
Summary (as of June 2015)Healthy Lifestyles Naturally (HLN) can represent two separate entities. One is the HLN of HLN/VAIS, a membership-driven, unregistered group run by Susan Lindberg, and HLN that is owned by Stephanie Messenger.
